Camp Chaos Show Reel   The War Effort on DVD

Civil War Anime Movie, 05.16.06

campchaos-thebloodyangle.jpg

Throughout the winter, we developed materials for what could be the first American-made historical anime movie. As you can tell by the outstanding cel art above (created by artists Elia Filippone and Bill Perkins), it's set during a particularly epic battle from the American Civil War, circa 1864. The story, written by Bob Cesca and John Christian Plummer, follows the real life journal of a 20-year-old Union soldier from a New York regiment, as well as some of the better known commanders of that era.

Stand by for scenes from the animatic coming soon. If you'd like to hear more about this project, let us know.

yo i wanna see it!!

Don't sing it bring it!

I'm particularly thrilled to see someone is making a non-Hollywood, accurate story of the Civil War. I'm a history buff - and distant relative of Union General Samuel Sprigg Carroll - so I'm a stickler for accuracy over flashy effects.

Hopefully, this film will teach more Americans as much about their war as this Brit does.

Good luck

As a descendant of Confederate soldiers from Alabama and Georgia and a member of the Sons of Conderate Veterans , I am very interested in seeing this movie/cartoon.

Thanks for the encouraging words, everyone. The intent of this movie is to go beyond the sterile portrayals of the Civil War and present the intensity and violence as close to reality as possible -- given that this is animated. That said, because it's animated... no big fat Confederates; no ridiculous fake beards; no long speeches; just the war as it was.

This would be a great educational teacher. Children as early as third grade start to learn of history. What a unique way to keep the attention of young American's and still have them learn about history. Sounds like a novel concept.
Perhaps you should try and bring it to the educators of this world and to the schools, education is key!

Bob - you say "no ridiculous fake beards or fat confederates". I trust that you will use facial hair appropriate to the period, and at least make the "Extras" different body sizes. Please don't put the more famous generals and personalities on a diet! Leave their beards intact!

id really like to see this made in production, my 4th gen. great grandfather was major general James shields a little known general. anyway, good luck on gettin that made :)

This looks very interesting. I would like to see / own on DVD.

I'm intrigued. I think you should definately pursue this project; I know I would be very interested to see what you do with it, and I have at least one friend who would love to see the final product.

You think they'll have 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry
